The Holy of Holies
and the
Holy of Holies Annex
It was necessary to pay homage at the
Holy of Holies for space geeks, the
National Air and Space Museum.
We genuflected in front of Glamorous Glynnis.
We burned incense in front of the Lunar Lander.
We were told by a guard to put the incense out, and
instead, we mumbled the words of Charlie Duke as
he polled the flight controllers for the Apollo 11 landing.
Well, I did, anyway.

Not quite my size, but I could see myself out mowing the lawn in one of these.

Looking up from the rocket well.

"OK, all flightcontrollers. Go, No-Go for landing.
Retro? Go!
Fido? Go! Guidance? Go! Control? Go! Telcom? Go! GNC?
Go!
Eecom? Go! Surgeon? Go! CapCom, we are Go for landing.
Eagle, Houston.
You're Go for landing. Over."

The entrance to the Udvar Hazy Annex.

F-4U Corsair. Chicks dig it.

The shuttle Enterprise flight test article. This was the vehicle used for glide tests.

The model of the alien mothership from Close Encounters of the Third
Kind. A detailed view of the surface shows an homage to George Lucas.
