Lots of cheesy stuff. Linda loves places like this (like "Hole 'n' The Rock" south of Moab).

I bought a redwood basket for Mom here, but no ice, firewood, snacks, sodas or ice cream.

Into San Francisco, and into Gateway National Recreation Area overelooking the city.

Linda helps out some tourists...

...who likewise returned the favor.

A stitched panoramic of the Golden Gate.

Alcatraz Island

The hills in Golden Gate Recreation Area are riddled with abandoned gun emplacements.

This tunnel ran from one side of the hill to the other, connecting gun emplacements.

One of the many never-finished 16" gun emplacements.

This Nike-Hercules launch site, SF-88, is the only remaining Herc site in the country, maintained as a museum.
Unfortunately, it wasn't open this weekend, so we were unable to see the launch platforms or missile storage facilities.

The hills north of San Francisco. Its good to see this area has been preserved and not developed.

A Civil War-era ammo bunker.

Some views of the Golden Gate Bridge. It's quite an impressive sight.

This was the only seal we saw at Pier 39, which is usually teeming with them.

We
had a lot of time to kill before our midnight redeye flight back to
Cleveland, so we had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe at Pier 39.
The
ceiling of the bar was decorated in a Grateful Dead "dancing teddy
bear" motif. Jimi Hendrix's testicles were nowhere to be seen.

We did a little shopping at the myriad of shops at Pier 39. No chocolate noses or ceramic collies were purchased, however.

Sunset over the San Francisco Bay, and one of the many seafood restaurants at Fisherman's Wharf.

Waiting for our redeye. We were pooped. It was a good trip. No earthquakes,
no mudslides, no fires and no gay guys tried to pinch my ass (that I know of.).
