We do private domain email hosting and virus/spam filtering. We can run an email server for you or filter for your in-house email server preventing your server from having to deal with the onslaught of spammers an hackers. Our filters use the best of everything to filter only spams and virus while allowing all those important emails thru, if you even think something go blocked we have the ability to check for you and release anything that's been blocked in the past day or two. Our virus and spam filters are updated HOURLY to prevent those nasties from getting into your network. There are very few ISP's who take email as seriously as we do, we live by email so we know how important it is. Ask us about our email hosting capabilities, we can do anything.
For DNS hosting we do all the work so you don't need to learn how dns works. Some hosting services give you a control panel and you are expected to learn and understand dns. With us you tell us what you want to happen and we worry about how the dns works to make it so.
Our claim to fame, the thing that we do better than other web hosting outfits is we run a secure performance oriented web farm with a very high bandwidth allowance (see throughput in below table). Our servers are secured, we spend a lot of time applying all the patches and security updates. Our servers are also maintained and load balanced so site response is always crisp. We are very reserved about how many sites go on a server and very careful to make sure the server has excellent uptime and response time. Most of our servers have a yearly downtime total of about 7 minutes. (that's an uptime of 99.998% for you statistical types). A few servers have had more downtime when hardware has failed, but since 1995 no server has ever been down for a full day.
We offer 2 kinds of websites, FrontPage based or FTP based. The main difference is the form of access to author the site. The first type of site is the FTP web site where uploading your pages is done via FTP. The second type of site is where uploading of your pages is done via Microsoft FrontPage. No sites allow both types of access because of the security issues it would cause.
FTP sites: these sites have access to a mailto cgi and a counter cgi, they also allow asp executable code on the server. No other executable code is allowed to run on the web servers because of security and loading concerns however with the two cgi's and asp capabilities there is little that can't be done. Database based sites are not a problem.
FrontPage sites: these sites have access to the same mailto and counter cgi that FTP sites have, they also support asp executable code on the server. In addition to that they also support the full range of FrontPage webbots. No other executable code is allowed to run on the web server and no aftermarket FrontPage extensions that require server side installation are possible either. Client side FrontPage extensions such as bCentral Commerce Manager will work, only the ones that require installation on the server are not supported.
We base website cost on the overall size of the site on disk. The reason for this is that a large part of the cost of web hosting is the cost of backing up the systems. The more there is to backup the greater the cost.

CGI's, email boxes and capabilities specified above. Additional email boxes and services are available.
TRAFFIC: Each website is allowed 500x site size per month in Megabytes of traffic. So for example if you are being billed for a 50MB web site then you are allowed 25 Gig per month in traffic. This is roughly 5x as much as most ISP's allow and very few sites will even come close to that kind of traffic levels.
SETUP fees: for standard websites there is a $25 setup fee.
SSL and Secure Site Certificates: Basically a cert serves two functions. It guarantees to the client end that you are who you say you are (you are certified) and it allows an encrypted connection so that the client and server can communicate securely. We support two kinds of SSL.
The first type is if you have one page where you take a credit card number and so you require a secure connection, we can provide a certified site where we will copy your page. You then link to it from your website, it allows the secure transaction then returns the user to your regular website. This has a cost of $5/month with a $50 setup fee, the cert is in our name so it's really only useful to you as a way to do a secure transaction.
The second type is where you are certified by Thawte or Verisign and they issue you a cert. We can load this cert so it is available to your website. Typically these certificate providers charge between $200 and $350 for a 1 year certification with a $200/year renewal fee which you pay directly to them. The only charge from us in this case is a $50 setup fee which you pay one time, there are no monthly charges from us.
We also support shopping cart services such as Cartserver's Americart. These services are a great way to handle the complexity of online live transactions because they do all the background processing, credit card billing, SSL, and database stuff while you just code some simple html that makes it all work seamlessly. Their yearly cost is roughly equal to what you would pay just for an SSL cert.
DATABASE: All our servers support Access databases, SQL server is available but unless you plan on having 20 people per second running database queries it is a cost and complexity you don't need to be concerned with as Access mdb files with the new MSDE data engine are more than enough for all but the largest of websites. Don't be fooled by the checkbox SQL server stuff that others ISP's claim to provide, most are just providing MySQL which is the same thing as an Access database as far as loading capabilities go.
CONTENT RESTRICTIONS: This is a difficult subject. Our position is that if the site is legal and doesn't cause a disturbance for us or our other customers then it's OK. Where it becomes a problem is when publication of the fact that we host a site can have an adverse affect on our business, in those cases we reserve the right to refuse to host the site. It's strictly a business based decision. Web sites are subject to our standard AUP and we absolutely do not allow spamming or sites who's address is actively being spammed.
SITE DESIGN SERVICES: We don't offer any artistic design services, however we do offer backend consulting and coding services. If you need an artistic type web site designer we can point you at several different good developers. If you need advice on how to make your site do something complicated, incorporate some backend functionality or a database or need to know security implications of some feature you want to add or something like that then we can provide someone to do that work or as a consultant for an hourly charge.
PASSWORD PROTECTED PAGES: We don't directly support this but it's easy enough for a website designer to do with utilities like these.
